International Red Cow Club

The International Red Cow Club (IRCC) was formed in 1989 with a foundation group of 8 members.

The concept was the "brainchild" of the late William (Bill) Thompson of Eskdale, Australia. After Bill's untimely death in 1989 his daughter, Karen Moroney took over the directorship of his business and continued to expand the IRCC concept. Today, the IRCC has 22 registered members.

All those involved have an involvement with dairy cattle and to be more specific -red dairy cattle. Many red breed organisations or those simply involved in the dairy industry see the IRCC as providing a platform for members to come together on a regular basis to discuss the genetic progress of their breeds, to promote and exchange genetics and to create linkages around the globe on a business and breeding basis.

Members of the International Red Cow Club meet every 3 years at a nominated venue around the globe. The conference was held in Australia in October 2000 and was the fourth conference to be held and the first such gathering in the Southern Hemisphere. In May 2005 the 6th IRCC was hosted by the SA Red Society of South Africa. ...see report...

There are conditions for members committing to the IRCC; these and the members are listed as follows.

The conditions of the club are: -

  1. Members accept "the Red Cow" magazine as their official International publication.
  2. Each member will be listed, free of charge, in each issue of "The Red Cow" magazine.
  3. Each member agrees to Co-operate with all other IRCC members to promote red breeds through "The Red Cow" magazine.
  4. Each member agrees to Co-operate with other IRCC members to study breeding policies and achievements of red dairy cattle.
  5. Each member agrees to Co-operate in holding periodical conferences to exchange ideas and present achievements of each red breed.
  6. Each member (being a Society or Association) is to pay an annual membership fee of AUD $250 to "The Red Cow" magazine.

"The Red Cow" magazine guarantees to print some editorial in each issue that covers some aspect of that member's activities or its farm members. The responsibility to send editorial into the editor rests with the member society. Application for membership can be made directly from this website www.aussiereds.com.au or through the Red Cow magazine. ...membership form...
